I am a professor of philosophy at the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley and coeditor of the Radical Philosophy Review. My specialization is in social and political philosophy, which I approach from a genealogical perspective. My research focuses on the way that corporations govern the public through apparatuses like public relations, marketing, advertising, and industrial design.

My book How Propaganda Became Public Relations: Foucault and Corporate Government of the Public (2020, Routledge) is out in paperback. It tackles how propaganda was transformed into public relations in the first half of the 20th century to fill the needs of corporations to govern unruly democratic publics. Some of the issues that the book raises are how propaganda works, the nature of public or mass subjectivity, and the impact of corporate government on democracy.
